Week 5: Infographic

Assignment Title: Infographic
Uses in the Classroom: This infographic summarizes the notes students took on Macromolecules. There are multiple uses for an inforgraphic like this. Students could use their notes to design and construct an infographic like this as a summary of their notes. Students could also view this infographic and be able to classify different macromolecules as being carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, or nucleic acids.
Issues to Consider: If students were to make an infographic such as this on their own they would have to be given a certain allotted time in class. Because making one of these would be new to the students, it would probably take them quite a bit of time (more than a class period) to design an infographic that they really liked. I wouldn't want to spend a ton of class time designing something like this and would rather have the students focus on the content than the design. This would be a GREAT cross-curricular activity that students who are in graphic design and biology could do so that they would have time to make it look nice, and still utilize their class time in biology to really understand the material.
